VOLUNTEERING AT SAATHII

SAATHII has several volunteer opportunities at its offices in Chennai, Calcutta and Hyderabad. Additionally. there is scope for volunteers around the world to assist with our India HIV/AIDS Online Resource Center and training module development via the internet.

Background of volunteers:

Volunteers at SAATHII are typically post-graduate students or professionals with skills and experience in such areas as public health, business, social work, medicine, and other fields. Recent volunteers have either been self-funded or have been provided travel and cost-of-living expenses through independent agencies such as the American Jewish World Service (volunteers from the U.S.). Volunteers from India tend to work for 2-5 hours a week in the evenings or weekends, while volunteers from overseas spend 2-4 months working full-time with us.

Current volunteer opportunities:

1. The Chennai office is looking for a part-time volunteer (3-4 hours a week) to assist in screening NGO and volunteer applications prior to placement of volunteers. Contact saathii.vpp@gmail.com

2. E-volunteer opportunities: SAATHII is currently seeking e-volunteers from around the world who can work from home via the internet to develop training modules customized for the Indian context in the following areas:

• Counseling for HIV/AIDS
• Documentation (including proposal writing)
• Pediatric AIDS
• Legal issues of HIV/AIDS in India
• Opportunistic infections
• Issues of Infected Affected and Vulnerable Children
• Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV
