India for Participation in National AIDS Control Programme– Phase III
(2008-09)
Funded by UNAIDS India, New Delhi and supported by National AIDS Control Organisation, New Delhi
These
projects aim to help the following initiate or scale up their response
to the HIV epidemic in Eastern and North-Eastern India through
participation in the NACP-III activities: (a) Informal networks of MSM
/ transgender (TG) individuals; (b) Community-based organizations
(CBOs) of MSM / TG people; (c) Formal coalitions of MSM / TG
individuals or CBOs; and (d) Non-government organizations (NGOs) that
do not have an MSM / TG community base or leadership but work with MSM
/ TG people.
Key activities of the projects include: (a)
Mapping the networks, coalitions, CBOs and NGOs to prepare a database
of MSM / TG community groups in Eastern and North-Eastern India; (b)
NACP-III focused training and networking workshop for MSM / TG
community groups and officials of State AIDS Control Societies,
District AIDS Prevention and Control Units and their technical support
agencies; and (c) Post-workshop: Providing seed money support to assist
informal networks attempting CBO formation, or to non-funded CBOs in
need of administrative or capacity building support to prepare them for
NACP-III participation.
