Welcome to the Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) E-Support Center – an online resource center designed by and for service providers, advocates, and allies of children affected by HIV and AIDS. The information provided here is focused around OVC living in India, and on the family as primary unit of service delivery in the continuum of care, but includes resources from every continent and phase of the HIV epidemic.

The documents and organizations catalogued in this e-support center are divided by type of information (top navigation bars), as well as by type of tool (left navigation bars). In addition, wherever appropriate they have been sorted into India-specific and general categories. On the right-hand side of the page, you will find links to SAATHII’s Family Care Continuum Programs, HIV/AIDS Online Resource Center, and additional service providers and resources that focus on providing support to orphans and vulnerable children in India and around the world.

About Us

SAATHII – Solidarity and Action Against the HIV Infection in India – was founded in 2000 as an informal HIV/AIDS e-forum providing scientific updates on the pandemic, and has steadily grown into a full-fledged organization with six offices in India and the USA. SAATHII’s mission is to strengthen and expand HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment services throughout India by providing support to more than 150 governmental and civil society organizations through the following core areas:

  • Technical Assistance
  • Program, Partner and Grant Management
  • Training and Capacity Building
  • Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Assistance
  • Information Dissemination
  • Networking
  • Advocacy
SAATHII’s Family Care Continuum Programs in Andhra Pradesh (APFCC) and Tamil Nadu (TNFCC) strive to reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS on children and their families through a comprehensive and sustainable approach that:
  • Ensures the proper growth and development of children in a safe environment
  • Reduces HIV related morbidity and mortality among parents and children
  • Improves economic productivity among family members and care givers supporting children affected by HIV
APFCC currently serves 3,500 family members spread across 5 high HIV prevalence districts in the state of Andhra Pradesh; TNFCC currently serves 12,000 people living with HIV/AIDS in 10 districts of Tamil Nadu. In addition, APFCC is working to initiate support programs to improve access to care and treatment for children in Manipur, Nagaland, Orissa, and West Bengal.
