COPE complemented the efforts of Svetana, SAATHII's private sector PPTCT initiative, in five of the 14 Svetana states: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Karnataka. In order to increase retention in the PPTCT cascade, it placed a cadre of outreach staff called PPP Field Coordinators (FCs) to promote uptake of PPTCT services in districts where the number of positive pregnant women and mother-baby pairs is high. COPE is being implemented in partnership with Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM) in Karnataka, Prayas-Pune in six districts of Maharashtra, and state units of SAATHII in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and the non-Prayas districts of Maharashtra. Based on the success of COPE, field coordinators were made part of the Global Fund Svetana program.
