Project Empower: Strengthening LGBTIQA+ collectives towards community-led advocacy and inclusive services

Project Empower implements a series of activities that engage LGBTIQ+ communities in advocacy for rights and access to services.

Activity Area I: Continuation of gender and sexual minority community capacity building towards organisational development, leadership growth, community-led advocacy and access to services. Supported entities include ETA (Enabling Trans Ability, a collective of transmen, lesbians and bisexual women in Manipur), Maa Majhi Gouri (a community-based organization CBO comprising of men having sex with men, transwomen and Hijra individuals from Rayagada district of Odisha) and emerging LBT and gay/bi men collectives in Odisha

Activity Area II: Community-led advocacy for LGBTIQA+ inclusion in access to social- legal services and bullying free learning (school, college environments) in Odisha and Manipur

Activity Area III: Support state governments (Odisha and Manipur) in implementing NALSA judgement in its entirety through state-specific policies and schemes

Activity Area IV: Community-led advocacy for LGBTIQ-inclusive mental healthcare in Manipur and overall (mental/physical) healthcare in Odisha

Activity Area V: Documentation, dissemination, and scale-up of learning to other stakeholders across existing and new states of India
